"The Twisted Mind of Steven Hatchback"

If you asked me where I saw myself in the next ten years, I would have told you something hopeful and imaginative, like an astronaut or a chef. Something that might inspire hope. But that all changed the day I met my hero.

It was a convention, much like any other. Crowds of people were dressed up as their favorite characters from movies or comics. As for me, I was dressed more casually. I wasn't there to cosplay, I was there to browse. I'm a little introverted, so drawing as little attention to myself as possible sounded the best, and the best way to do that is to not wear an over the top costume.

I made my way through a massive room with stands set up, advertising the booths with famous people standing behind them. Many of the greats were there from shows and movies I'd seen once or twice. The main reason I was here was to meet my hero, Steven Hatchback.

Steven was the guy behind so many of my favorite movies. Everything he came out with was a hit. Everything from 'Diagonal House' to 'The Shape of Us'. And, according to rumors, he was working on a new project. A project that was bigger than any film he had ever done before.

It took a few minutes of walking, but I finally found his booth. It was way in the back corner of the room, hidden away behind some of the bigger booths. As I approached, I saw the massive line of people, each of which had something in hand to have signed. Steven looked pretty excited to be talking to all these people.

It seemed to take forever, but I was finally in front of the line, not many people waiting behind me.

He seemed really friendly. I told him I was a huge fan and had seen all of his movies. We talked for a little bit about them before he signed my shirt.

Before I left, I asked him about his newest movie that he was working on. He didn't say much, if anything at all. He was very secretive about it. But I walked away from the situation feeling a little satisfied. Sure, I didn't find anything out, but I met my hero. That's all that matters.

As the convention was winding down, I sat by the entrance, waiting for my ride. As I waited, I saw Steven packing his stuff up. He looked exhausted. I had a strange urge to run up and talk to him again. Before I realized it, I had already gotten up. This took me by surprise, as I knew my ride would be here any minute.

I followed him until he began walking out of the exit. I felt myself calling out to him.

Something didn't feel right. This wasn't me. It was like someone had hijacked my body and was forcing me to follow him. I tried to fight it but it was no use. Nothing was stopping the abnormal pace I was walking.

After I felt myself calling out to him again, he finally turned around. He was beginning to say he wasn't answering any more questions, but as he turned to face me, his words were cut short.

His expression changed from exhaustion to joy. Why was he looking at me like that? Was I special to him?

That's when he mentioned his new project. The one he didn't share much with me about. He motioned for me to follow him. My legs began to walk on their own. Not like I wanted to walk away from this. I was truly interested in what his new movie was.

Finally, we came to a big room in the back of the building. It was dark and he motioned for me to walk inside. My legs walked me in there without my input.

After I was in, he shut the door behind me. I could feel myself gaining control back over my body. Suddenly, the lights flashed on. Looking around, there were a bunch of other people. They all looked scared.

I asked them what was going on and they told me something horrifying. He's using everyone in the room for his next movie. Instead of actors, however, he was going to control normal people to do the acting for him. What a twisted man.

"Death of a Nugget"

The night was cold as I sat in my room. I was alone and unaware of the horrors that lay before me as my stomach rumbled. It wasn't enough that I felt it but I could hear it gurgling through my headphones. The sound alone almost made me jump. Glancing down at my watch, I realized it was 9pm. Had I really been hooked on this game for that long? It was only 5:30 a few moments ago. As the hunger bore a hole through my stomach, I realized I needed to stand from my chair and stretch my legs. Upon standing, my legs felt like rubber. I stretched my legs and my back as I released a groan. I let far too much time get away from me. I needed to get out and get some fresh air. I threw on some socks and some shoes and walked out the door. As I walked down the stairwell, I patted my pockets. Did i just lock the door without taking my keys? Thankfully They were there. However, my keys and wallet were the only things on me. I must have left my phone on the desk. That didn't matter much....

"One Last Goodbye"

There I stood at the edge of the bed as I gazed down upon my dearest friend Jamie. I looked at her with gentle eyes as I stood unmoving. I loved her dearly. More than she would ever know. Could ever know. It was too late to tell her. too late to let her know how I felt. I wish I had more time with her. As I look down at her eyes resting gently on her unmoving face, I can't help but feel a tear streaming down my cheek. I'm reminded of how kind of a person she was. She was the kind of person to give someone money if they really needed it. She always made everyone around her feel seen, feel heard. And the way I remember her when there was a cute dog nearby. She'd be so full of life, running over and asking to pet the dog and seeing the dog climb to her leg and she'd pet and love on that dog. Those memories were beautiful. Memories I would never again experience with her. The room I stood in was surrounded by darkness, similar to how I felt inside. Hollow and empty....

"Skin-Tight"

Shopping was the one part of my birthday that I looked forward to. My friend, Kaitlyn and I went to the mall to get some cute new clothes. Walking through the door, the smell was the first thing to hit me. It smelled like clean fabric, floral but artificial but in a good way. It almost reminded me of pulling clothes freshly out of the dryer. But weirdly cold. And I kind of loved it. Kaitlyn and I walked over to the shirts, sifting through them and showing them to one another. I had my eye on a long-sleeved black shirt with some text on it. I don't remember what the words were, but there was a cool design with red sparkles throughout. It was really cute. Before too long, she and I had found some shirts we really liked. But, of course, if you're going to get shirts you have to have bottoms to match. So, that's where we went next. As we walked through the aisles and looked on the shelves of jeans, one of them immediately caught my eye. There was ...
